BCI Asia Awards Top 10 Vietnam Architect 2021
Me Linh Point Tower was an iconic building during Ho Chi Minh City’s modernisation era and is now a landmark of the capital’s business enclave. From the time of construction until now, the tower has never been converted for other uses except as an office building. In 1999, Frasers Centrepoint Co Ltd (Singapore) acquired the property and, a decade later, renovated the podium, lobby and the façade.
Along the perimeter, dining and retail outlets feature awnings and stylised signage that evoke a Parisian architectural atmosphere. The building stands as a slanted architectural block covered with red-brown natural stone and green glass façade—a popular design in that era. The main challenge of the renovation design was how to add a layer of novelty without overwriting the building’s original story.
