Winner of Hospitality Category | Thailand | BCI Asia Interior Design Awards 2018
Perched on the Srinakarin Dam in Kanchanaburi, Thailand, in the middle of the valley, this is a floating resort with a nature-oriented design that offers private on-the-ground and raft accommodations.
Built separately to give a sense of exclusivity, each structure utilises the natural environment—wind, water, shapes and colours—to intimately blend its design with the beauty of the mountains and river. The rooms open to the surrounding views, and offer guests privacy, serenity and an immersive experience with nature.
Due to the location, the design language and materiality of the interior spaces are aligned with the resort’s setting. Clean lines that mirror the mountains and river’s edge, as well as rustic materials such as bamboo, natural stones and wood, are applied. The colour palette is muted so that attention is given to the natural colours of the environment.
