Winner of Workplace Category | Thailand | BCI Asia Interior Design Awards 2018
Digital lifestyle platform OOKBEE works with many different players in the content industry, from freelance writers to the big publishers in Thailand and the region.
As the company’s business was growing rapidly, it needed more space to accommodate its team. Hence, the company rented four units of old five-storey townhouses—which used to house a tire factory—located next to the main street in Bangkok’s business district.
The designers decided to create the physical space by drawing reference from the company’s logo and corporate identity. This led to a strong hexagonal imagery for the interior space, from the colours and the bee hive-patterned screen at the main entrance to the stools and the patterns on the glass partitions. The designers also allocated a rooftop garden with an open-air canteen to bring nature into the workplace. Materials were sourced locally and easily available.
The office space was mainly designed to cater to the new generation of employees, with the large recreational area, free food and drinks at the rooftop canteen, music and sports corner, etc. These are features that would help satisfy the need for a less corporate and more lifestyle-driven type of working environment.
