The Thomson-East Coast Line (TEL) is Singapore’s sixth Mass Rapid Transport (MRT) line, the 43-kilometre line will comprise 32 stations, including seven interchange stations linking to all of the major MRT lines such as the East-West Line (EWL); North-South Line (NSL); North-East Line (NEL); Circle Line (CCL); Downtown Line (DTL); and the upcoming Cross-Island Line (CRL).
The line is expected to be fully open for public services by 2024 and will progressively open through five phases. The first phase, TEL 1, has been open for public services since 31 Jan 2020, and it consists of three stations, namely Woodlands North, Woodlands interchange station and Woodlands South.
All stations will have more entrances to improve accessibility, as well as longer pedestrian underpasses to offer more shelter and shorten walking time.
Four stations along the TEL Marine Parade; Marine Terrace; Bayshore; and Sungei Bedok, will feature Singapore’s first underground bicycle parking facilities.
