From April 1, 2019 onwards, construction companies in Singapore will only need to apply to the Building and Construction Authority for a permit to carry out structural works at a site.
Previously, firms would also need to make a separate application to register their worksite with the Manpower Ministry (MOM). Under this streamlined process, MOM will collect the information it requires via a common database with BCA, the two government agencies announced on 29 March.
This move is part of the government’s efforts to streamline business processes and enhance between agencies, the official statement reads.
Construction companies are expected to save around SGD1.7 million annually in worksite registration fees as there is no need to make separate payment for worksite registration. — Construction+ Online
