Singapore, 1 September 2021 – The annual BCI Asia Awards—now into its 16th year—was held today at Fairmont, Singapore, to recognise developers and architecture firms that have built and designed the greatest volume of buildings in Singapore.
The award seeks to encourage the creation of socially responsible architecture, and remains one of the most coveted awards in the regional building industry while serving as a platform for domestic and international networking among elite architecture firms, property developers, manufacturers and service providers.
These companies have shown the highest level of resilience and continue to thrive in 2021 despite the challenges posed by the pandemic. Restrictions and other measures to curb the spread of the COVID-19 virus have inevitably caused disruptions in the construction market. Resource management and project timelines are not easy to plan amid market uncertainties, especially as tighter border measures restrict the inflow of workers.
According to BCI Asia Top 10 criteria for architecture firms and property developers, the winning companies’ portfolios comprise the greatest aggregate value of projects under construction during the last full calendar year, as well as meaningful sustainability efforts.

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the BCI Asia Awards 2020 was merged with the BCI Asia Awards 2021. The portfolios of the 2021 architecture firms comprise US$8.2 billion worth of properties scheduled to start construction in Singapore this year, while the portfolios of the top developers are valued at US$1.7 billion.
