Merit, Residential Category | BCI Asia Interior Design Awards 2018
This 120-square-metre apartment, located in the west of Singapore, has been home to a family of three for 10 years prior to its renovation.
The apartment was originally filled with loose furniture that took up space. Hence, one of the design concerns was to de-clutter and brighten up the apartment with built-in furniture.
A daybed next to the window allows the occupant to read and relax. The bedrooms are kept clean with hidden storages to celebrate the sense of openness.
The design also introduces greens into the interiors to filter out sunlight and break the rigidity. It also encourage occupants to engage with the outdoors from inside their home.
The overall aesthetics have been kept simple and modern by presenting the materials in their raw form. Accented colours contrast with the raw materials and inject life into the space, bringing in warmth and homeliness to the apartment. — Construction+ Online
