Utopia on Jalan Dang Wangi is a space designed for cultural festivals and events. It is an architectural intervention that seeks to create a positive impact on the neighbourhood by encouraging people to slow down and be social. The design is highly permeable and flexible to adapt to different agendas that will revive the cultural heritage, boost the local creative industry and turn the site into a mix-commercial precinct.
The quality of a design can be seen from the way it enhances social connection, and Utopia does this through the application of traditional architecture that evokes a sense of ownership. At the same time, the design also promotes wellness through a series of openings that minimise artificial light and improve air circulation.
