Kuala Lumpur, 31 March 2021 – Users of smart metre and myTNB applications developed by Tenaga Nasional Berhad (TNB) will receive more benefits through the addition of new features as well as service upgrades. This will be launched no later than 4Q 2021.
Project Director of Advanced Metering Infrastructure (AMI) of TNB, Ir Mohamed Ghous Ahmad, said, “Among the new features that users will enjoy are tracking notifications of supply disruptions and periodic supply disruption notices. Users can also plan their monthly limit of electricity consumption and will receive a notification when the limit has been reached. Another feature of the smart metre is its ability to encourage consumers to use electricity more efficiently and help reduce carbon emissions.”
TNB has installed more than 1 million smart metres so far, comprising 788,000 installations in Klang Valley and another 317,000 in Melaka. This will be extended to all 9.1 million users in Peninsular Malaysia by 2026. As of the end of January 2021, over 4.8 million registered user accounts have started using myTNB application.
TNB is the implementing agent of the smart metre installation programme to support the government’s mission to increase digitalisation among the public. This is implemented under the Incentive-Based Regulatory (IBR) mechanism.
