Kuala Lumpur, 18 February 2021 – Master Builders Association Malaysia (MBAM) is scheduling training and certification on the following dates:
- MBAM lifting supervisor training: 24–25 February 2021
- Certification training for designated person (DP) in concreting: 25–27 February 2021
The new Department of Occupational Health and Safety (DOSH) Chief Inspector Orders requires project managers to appoint experienced and capable personnel as lifting supervisors, signalmen and riggers for operating, controlling and maintaining the cranes. A fine of up to RM200,000 or five-year prison time (or both) will be imposed for any violations to the new order.
MBAM lifting supervisor training aims to provide participants with adequate knowledge and supervisory skills to ensure that every aspect of the lifting operations on-site is executed and managed in a safe manner.
Meanwhile, the Building Operations and Works of Engineering Construction (BOWEC) Regulation 1986 requires an employer to appoint a designated person (DP) to supervise and inspect concreting work at construction site. The course aims to produce construction personnel with sufficient technical knowledge and skills in supervising concreting in construction works—which includes the legal provision of concreting—as well as hazard identification, risk assessment and risk control (HIRARC).
Interested participants are encouraged to download the form from MBAM webpage and submit it via email to register for the programmes.
