The project will be the first mixed integrated development centring on the theme of ecotourism on Pangkor Island, Malaysia, with five-star hotel suites, MICE (meetings, incentives, conferencing and exhibitions) functions and entertainment led by environmental considerations.
ECOTOURISM IN URBANITY
It aims to serve as a one-stop leisure-driven ecotourism destination based on the ‘eat-play-stay-shop’ concept, which will make Pangkor Island the first island in the country to practice ecotourism to a great extent. Many environmentally conscious companies are involved in the development to conserve the natural beauty and ensure the eco-sustainability of this future landmark. Advanced eco-friendly technologies will be adopted to minimise impact to the environment.
By combining Venetian architectural design with Malaysian culture, Pangkor Venice World, named the Venice of Southeast Asia, will bring different experiences to visitors. It will also integrate the natural environment with urban living styles.
Pangkor Island was gazetted as a duty-free island in 2020, where people can purchase items like apparels, chocolate and liquor at duty-free prices. A duty-free outlet will be set within Pangkor Venice World, making it a shopping destination for tourists and visitors alike.
LOCAL POSITIVE IMPACTS
The development is expected to increase both local and international tourist visitations and work opportunities in Perak; improve local economy and living standards; and promote Pangkor Island to the world.
Apart from using SIRIM (formerly known as the Standard and Industrial Research Institute of Malaysia) approved materials, the project will also apply ISO 9001 standards in the construction to make sure that the site will be well-managed, reducing costs and improving the efficiency of the development.
