This project is a part of a massive housing development named Darul Hana near Jalan Datuk Patinggi Abang Haji Muhammad Salahuddin, involving the relocation of 16,655 villagers from 4,278 families or 2,526 homes. Block 5 of Darul Hana along Tun Salahuddin Highway is redeveloped for the housing project. The term Lepu Alang means the village of echoes in the language of Orang Ulu.
DENSITY-BASED CLUSTERING
The first part of the project is the master planning of 770 units in the 77.6 acres land. The overall planning is inspired by a traditional musical instrument of the Orang Ulu of Sarawak known as Sape. The tunes can be categorised into three groups: high, medium and low. Inspired by these tunes or echoes, the development is broken down into smaller clusters with different densities.
