South East Asia’s community of architects, interior designers, developers, urban planners, engineers and other professionals involved in the building industry converged on the International Architecture, Interior Design and Building Exhibition (ARCHIDEX) at Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre, Malaysia from 20 to 23 July 2016.
The exhibition saw the attendance of over 35,000 visitors and delegates from 70 countries. At least 15,000 professionals from the building industry came to connect and collaborate during the four days of exhibition, conferences and forums, meetings and networking, as well as product launches.
Strong presence of key industry players
The event featured more than 1,200 exhibition booths from over 500 Malaysian and international companies. A total of 17 countries showcased the best of the industry in the exhibition: Australia; Austria; Belgium; China; Germany; Hong Kong; Indonesia; Japan; Korea; Malaysia; Singapore; Spain; Switzerland; Taiwan; Thailand; United States of America; and Vietnam. Its successful brand name is also recognised as a well-known gateway into the burgeoning South East Asian market and an ideal platform to launch the latest collections.
Some highlights of ARCHIDEX 2016
The new feature of Focus Forum @ ARCHIDEX was held on 20 July 2016 and discussed the challenges and opportunities that would arise along the way in the ascension of the Trans-Pacific Partnership Agreement (TPPA)—from the perspective of the construction and building industry.
In conjunction with the Kuala Lumpur Architecture Festival (KLAF) 2016, the Malaysian Institute of Architects/Pertubuhan Akitek Malaysia (PAM) organised a host of events such as the Datum conference; design and Green forums; architecture and graphic design exhibitions; masterclass; public lecture; architecture tours; and roundtable. ARCHIDEX 2016 also featured the Eco Building & Design Exhibition (ECO-B), which provided a highly effective platform to explore a growing interest in environmentally responsible buildings.
This year’s event saw nominees by exhibitors competing for the New Product Awards (NPA) and the Green Dot Awards (GDA), both of which are highly coveted recognition in the industry. There were a total of 49 nominee submissions and 48 products were showcased at the ARCHIDEX Awards Gallery. The judging and awarding ceremony took place on 21 July 2016.
This 17th instalment of ARCHIDEX—recognised as the region’s key annual architecture, interior design and building industry trade event— was jointly organised by PAM and C.I.S Network Sdn Bhd, an established Malaysian trade and lifestyle exhibitions organiser.
