Kuala Lumpur, 9 July 2021 – Mass Rapid Transit Corporation Sdn Bhd (MRT Corp) has informed that the construction of the MRT Putrajaya Line has been progressing well and now passed the 90 per cent overall completion mark.
Progress for Phase One of the line between Kwasa Damansara Station and Kampung Batu Station is at 99 per cent. Currently, trial operations, which began on 29 April 2021, are being carried out by the operator along this section of the line.
MRT Corp CEO, Datuk Mohd Zarif Hashim, says in order to ensure that the operator achieves the required level of competency, MRT Corp has now decided to extend the trial operations period.
“The original training schedule was impacted by the Movement Control Order 3.0 (MCO 3.0) and the Enhanced Movement Control Order (EMCO) which is being enforced in most parts of Selangor and selected locations in Kuala Lumpur,” he explains.
As a result of this, Zarif says MRT Corp has now decided to revise the scheduled opening date for MRT Putrajaya Line Phase One to mid November 2021. This new opening date, he adds, is also chosen to take place in Phase Four of the National Recovery Plan when the country’s economy is expected to be fully open and the launch event can take place.
