This extension was based on the users’ positive responses. The CEO of Rapid Bus Sdn Bhd, Encik Muhammad Yazurin Sallij, said, “This initiative is a continuation of a pilot project that started on 3 September 2020, which involved an improvement of LRT intermediate bus services in 10 routes. It is part of our ongoing efforts to improve the quality of service. With the buses’ new look, we have found that users find it easier to differentiate between LRT intermediate buses and regular Rapid KL buses.”

The positive feedback gave confidence to Rapid Bus to continue the programme. The survey was conducted in January 2021, involving more than 1,000 respondents, with responses as follows:

  • 66 per cent of the respondents knew about the buses’ new look; of which 98 per cent agreed that the pink colour help in identification;
  • 81 per cent of the respondents are frequent users and they agreed that the quality of service has improved in terms of punctuality, scheduling, availability and identification;
  • 14 per cent of the respondents are new users who have started to use the service after becoming more aware of the service availability;
  • 34 per cent of the new users choose the LRT Intermediary service because it is punctual;
  • 92 per cent of the respondents also recommend the service to the public.

“Based on these findings, Rapid Bus has expanded the programme and staged its implementation into several batches. This will involve rearranging bus operations, rescheduling and improving the trip frequencies,” added Muhammad Yazurin.
