In 2020, the national total of construction starts (building and civil projects, excluding oil and gas) is predicted to experience a contraction of -5.50 per cent compared to 2019. The total Indonesia construction market is expected to reach IDR 306,198 billion in 2020 of which 55 per cent would be in the building sector and 45 per cent in the civil sector. Industrial, residential, and health are categories which forecasted to have positive growth in 2020 with 54.88 per cent, 2.71 per cent, and 1.29 per cent growth respectively. Whilst for civil category, the construction commencement in 2020 is still expected to be highly impacted by a slowdown in utility projects.
