The Parisian Macao is an integrated resort inspired by the famed “City of Light.” Featuring a half-scale authentic recreation of the Eiffel Tower, The Parisian Macao will offer a full array of integrated resort facilities, including approximately 3,000 guestrooms and suites, convention and meeting spaces, international restaurants, kids’ club, health club, pool deck with themed water park, 1,200-seat theatre and entertainment. The Shoppes at the Parisian retail mall offers the latest in fashion and couture in a setting reminiscent of the streets of Paris, with an eclectic mix of street artists, mimes and buskers heightening the authentic experience.
Inspired by the city of Paris, which is recognised for its exquisite architecture, gardens, as well as unparalleled decorative and fine arts. The design theme sought to capture the spirit of authenticity, artistic splendour and the romance of Paris throughout history, and transfer the grand halls, state rooms and gardens of Parisian palaces to Macao. It aimed to create a destination that rivals the royal palace in France.
The hotel’s grand lobby features French-themed architecture and décor. Upon entering through the majestic gilded doors inspired by the Palais Garnier, visitors will see the dome in the Rotunda, which is reminiscent of the L’Hotel National des Invalides in the 7th arrondissement of Paris, one of the most exquisite domes in France. Flanked by grand promenades of French limestone, marble, and tromp l’oeil ceilings, the Rotunda’s sparkling bronze and gilded Fontaine des Mers form the heart of The Parisian Macao.
Guests will be immersed in Parisian art and history with intricate design features throughout the resort. These include the delicate gilding and rich jewel tones of the Louis XIV Versailles-inspired reception and concierge; floral motifs and pastels borrowed from Les Jardins des Tulleries; the finest reproductions of 17th and 18th century antique rugs, bronze and crystal chandeliers, furnishings, silk textiles and Chinoiserie porcelains.
Another distinctive feature of The Parisian Macao is the linked walkways between The Venetian Macao, Shoppes at Four Seasons and Shoppes at Cotai Central, allowing guests and visitors to enjoy the full Sands Resorts Cotai Strip Macao experience with an additional 650 stores, 150 restaurants, luxury hotels, two theatres, meeting and convention spaces, as well as the 15,000-seat Cotai Arena.
DESIGN STRATEGY
This project originated from the success of The Venetian Macao. Upon the request to recreate a new themed destination, senior architect Charles Lee from the leading architectural firm Gensler (USA) decided to recreate The Parisian Macao to be as distinctive, artistic and authentic as Paris. He used four years to create the vision with a team of more than 50 people.
The porte cochère was inspired by the famous Paris train station Gard du Nord and the Grand Palais great hall, while the pool deck was inspired by Marie Antoinette’s tower in Versailles. The retail shops were recreated based on the famous shopping boulevards of Paris.
Many of the Eiffel Tower’s parts were built in China and transported to Macao. The steel was made in Shanghai and shipped to Macao, while the stone floors were sourced from Xiamen. The Eiffel Tower recreation was built piece by piece and technology was used to make it more sound and wind resistant than the original.
