Set to be the first museum-grade wood fossil park in Hong Kong, the 70,000-square-foot Nina Park is designed around the existing trees, in addition to a host of environmentally friendly and multimedia facilities, for an enhanced showcase of the largest collection of petrified tree trunks in Asia.
Featuring green spaces and a two-storey Experience Centre, the premises are integrated with windcatchers to enhance natural ventilation; smart benches that provide real-time weather information; wireless chargers; motion-sensor lighting; rainwater harvesting systems for irrigation; and solar panels to generate approximately 100,000 kilowatt-hours of electricity every year. The multimedia exhibition area is supported by interactive technology, such as the use of virtual reality.
Besides being located close to MTR Tsuen Wan West Station, the site also connects to Tsuen Wan Park and Tsuen Wan Promenade to form a green belt in the area. Developed by Chinachem Group, the first phase of the urban park was opened to the public on 29 December 2023. —Construction+ Online
