After unveiling its Greater Area Bay blueprint last February, Beijing aimed at transforming 11 cities into a combined economic powerhouse, including Shenzhen as one pillars of its development.
Shenzhen is set to become a model of high-quality development, an example of law and order and civilisation, as well as societal satisfaction and sustainability. This China’s hi-tech capital is expected to be city model global benchmark for other Chinese cities by the middle of 21th century.
This plan was declared detailly by Beijing government on Sunday, 18 August 2019, including wide-ranging reforms such as legal, financial, medical and social sectors, South China Morning Post reports. The goals are to make the city a leader in terms of innovation, public service and environmental protection by 2025, also carrying bolder reform of Shenzhen’s comprehensive economic by 2035.
Special emphasis would also be included on integrating Shenzhen with linked cities in the Greater Bay Area as an economic and business hub. That would include promoting Shenzhen’s financial market connections with Hong Kong and Macau. ― Construction+ Online
