A 42-square-metre apartment in Hong Kong has been dubbed the ‘Pet’s Playground’ as it is designed to meet the needs of its furry and feathered occupants, as reported in Global Construction Review.
The apartment is home to a couple, their mother-in-law, a cat and a parrot. Architect Sim-Plex Design has included a number of spaces, small holes and walkways for the cat, along with a cat house and a cat toilet next to the front door.
The parrot has its cage designed to be placed on a low cabinet in front of the living room window, where it can enjoy ample afternoon sun.
A wooden platform installed in the living room helps to reduce direct contact between the parrot and the cat.
All wooden furniture is made from ecological melamine-covered boards to reduce cat scratches and formaldehyde, which can be harmful to both human and animals.
The apartment also caters to the different living requirements of both generations of human residents, with rooms that can be expanded and contracted for privacy and space. — Construction+ Online
