Operation of the new offshore liquefied natural gas (LNG) terminal in the southwestern waters of Hong Kong has begun. The facility, jointly developed and constructed by the two power companies (CLP Power Hong Kong Limited and The Hongkong Electric Co., Ltd), enables direct access to competitively-priced natural gas from international markets as an alternative source of fuel towards carbon neutrality.
The first shipment, amounting to around 139,000 cubic metres, is capable of meeting the monthly electricity needs of some 1.5 million residential households.
