An additional HKD20 million was allocated by MTR Corporation towards its collaboration with Hong Kong Applied Science and Technology Research Institute (ASTRI) in advancing smart railway operations and intelligent maintenance, following the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the two parties in June 2023.

Leveraging ASTRI’s expertise in communication technology; artificial intelligence; the Internet of Things; and data analytics, approximately HKD50 million has been allocated by MTR since 2021 for joint projects, covering the use of precise automatic optical inspection technology; development of a portable escalator gap clearance inspection tool; and application of digital twin. —Construction+ Online
