Jones Lang LaSalle Management Services Limited held their Annual Engineer Conference on 16 November 2016 at Congregation House, Causeway Bay. The theme of the conference was Hong Kong’s Lead in Drinking Water Crisis.
In 2015, samples of potable water in Hong Kong were found to contain excessive levels of heavy metals including lead, nickel and cadmium. The findings caused widespread crisis within the city as management companies worked around the clock to rectify the issue. Members of the public have become more concerned now about the quality of potable water as well as piping installation.
Majority of the 45 professionals who attended the conference were BS engineers and surveyors. Viega, an international manufacturer of plumbing and heating, ventilation and air-conditioning solutions, shared their philosophy and knowledge of applications in plumbing and drainage installations and provided demonstrations of their technology at the conference, which included an innovative solution for copper pipe systems utilising press connection technology.
In an upcoming plumbing and drainage system replacement project at Dah Sing Financial Centre by Jones Lang LaSalle, there is an intention to utilise Viega connectors—the connectors have more than 50 approvals and worldwide certification. Product features were designed to minimise possible quality issue caused by humans, saving labour and time, as well as serving as a more sustainable and environmentally friendly application.
