A pop-up community vaccination centre on Caroline Hill Road in Causeway Bay commenced operations on 29 March 2022. It is the largest community vaccination centre yet to be set up on private land, where the site was jointly offered to the Government by Chinachem Group and Hysan Development for three months.
The centre was constructed in just 18 days with a total of 18 vaccination booths. Gammon Construction, which also sponsored the initiative, took the lead in constructing the temporary facilities using pre-fabricated containers, working alongside other partners including Ove Arup & Partners Hong Kong, Ronald Lu and Partners and WSP.
“Chinachem Group is committed to the community throughout the pandemic and is working alongside the public to help them combat its impact. We believe the centre could help boost the vaccination rate and hence speed up the city’s recovery,” said Mr Donald Choi, Executive Director and CEO of Chinachem Group.
Mr Ricky Lui, Executive Director and Chief Operating Officer of Hysan Development, remarked, “In line with our vision for the Caroline Hill Road site to become an urban oasis in Causeway Bay, this also demonstrates Hysan’s wish to use its prime portfolio to support the community during times of need.”
The site will be developed into a retail, commercial and community complex in the future. — Construction+ Online
