To continue the success of last year, the second Hong Kong Interior Design Week (HKIDW) will be held from 14 to 20 October 2022 at Tai Kwun in Central. Launched by the Hong Kong Interior Design Association and sponsored by Create Hong Kong, the event serves to celebrate the achievements of Hong Kong interior designers, widen industry newcomers’ exposure and promote local interior designs overseas.
With the theme of The Power of Hong Kong Interior Design, HKIDW 2022 will feature an exhibition, international forums, Asia-Pacific student workshops, an open house programme and the 30th Asia Pacific Interior Design Awards Presentation Ceremony.
Bi-city Exhibition to Demonstrate Creativity and Strength
The exhibition at the Duplex Studio of Tai Kwun will showcase the works of 10 local interior design companies. All these pieces will then be put on display at the Guangzhou Design Week from 9 to 12 December 2022 to promote exchanges among interior design communities in the Greater Bay Area. Moreover, 18 student works from six local tertiary institutions will be on show to demonstrate young creative talents.
International Forums with Leading Professionals
Up to 20 scholars and renowned designers from Hong Kong, the Mainland China, Singapore and the United Kingdom will participate in the international forums in person or through live-streaming. A total of five forums will be held over three days from 17 to 19 October 2022 to cover topics on Interior Design Pedagogy; Hong Kong Interior Design Power; Design Thinking of Asia-Pacific Interior Design Award Winners; Interior Design and Innovation: From Concept to Practice; and New Chinese Aesthetics and Interdisciplinary Design.
Open House Programme to Gather Community Support
The open house programme is a collaboration between HKIDW 2022 and 10 interior design stakeholders. From 14 to 20 October 2022, the general public can join free tours to learn about the latest interior designs, materials and technologies of their projects, including Central Market, Wontonmeen Youth Hostel and William’s Studio.
Workshops to Nurture New Talents
Asia-Pacific student workshops will see participants from Hong Kong Design Institute; The Hong Kong Polytechnic University; School of Architecture and Allied Art of Guangzhou Academy of Fine Arts; and Jianghan University, as well as student representatives from Singapore conduct group discussions and sharing sessions.
