British international infrastructure group Balfour Beatty’s joint venture has been awarded a HKD3 billion residential building contract on Hong Kong’s waterfront.
Gammon Construction Ltd—Balfour Beatty’s 50:50 joint venture with Asia-based Jardine Matheson—won the race to build eight residential blocks and four houses with a two-level basement, overlooking Tai Po’s Tolo Harbour in northern Hong Kong.
As part of the works, Hong Kong-based Gammon Construction will utilise the latest technologies, including 3D scanning and Building Information Modelling (BIM), to generate and manage vital project data for enhanced construction efficiencies.
“We are delighted to be chosen as the construction partner of Great Eagle Group for this project,” said Thomas Ho, CEO of Gammon, as reported by Construction Global. The project team is committed to working together with our business partners to deliver the project to the highest quality with our technological expertise and innovative solutions.”
Works are scheduled for completion by end-2019. At its peak, the project will employ 1,000 people. — Construction+ Online
