Facilitating Cultural Exchanges Among East Asian Design Professionals

[Supporting Media] East Gathering, a tri-city design exchange platform, convened about 300 professionals representing Hong Kong, Tokyo and Taipei in 2023. Its host of dialogues—held at local landmarks covering M+ Museum and K11 Atelier—was underpinned by the thematic umbrella of The Post-pandemic East, reflecting the shifts within the landscape of the industry following a global health crisis.

The recurring event—featuring architectural tours, related talks and student workshops—is dedicated to offering insights into the spatial design paradigms of the host city as well as fostering cross-cultural collaborations. First conceived in 2010, the latest initiative was jointly led by the Hong Kong Interior Design Association (HKIDA); Japan Commercial Environmental Design Association (JCD); and Chinese Society of Interior Designers (CSID).
