The construction of the deepest in China, the underwater metro tunnel is completed.
The 8.1-kilometer length tunnel extends partially under sea water, it connects east and west part of the city of Qingdao, in Shandong province, according to The Silver Telegram.
The China Railway No.3 Engineering Group noted that it is the deepest tunnel in mainland China, its deepest section is located 88 metres below sea level.
The construction of the tunnel began in September of 2015. It is part of a 59.97-kilometer subway line that links downtown Qingdao with its Huangdao district, significantly cutting travel time from one side to the other. — Construction+ Online
