A bomb was found on a landfill worksite off Wan Po Road in Tseung Kwan O on Friday, 3 August. The area was immediately cordoned off by the Hong Kong police after the bomb was found, according to a Hong Kong Free Press report.
More than 10 police vehicles, five or six fire trucks and several ambulances were at the scene, while nearly 100 people were evacuated to a safe location. A detonation was conducted by the bomb squad before 6pm that day.
According to a representative from the Hong Kong Dumper Truck Drivers Association, the bomb was found in a public filling area managed by the Civil Engineering and Development Department (CEDD). It was found by workers while digging up sand that will be sent to a barge for the construction of the third runway at the Hong Kong International Airport. — Construction+ Online
