Aedas revealed The Chongqing Gaoke Group Ltd Office, its twisting tower design project in Southest China.
Located at the north Xingfu Plaza in Jiangbei District of Chongqing, this twisting tower design highlights its dynamic façade, presenting visual notion that makes it iconic.
“As an open public space, the tower has all the credits to be a city icon. The significant twisting of the facade will catch everyone’s eyeballs,” said Ken Wai, Director and lead Architect of Aedas, as quoted on Archdaily.
The curvature façade design is inspired by the dancing aurora by applying linear and non-linear movements counterbalance the edge and softness of the façade. This façade design combines rigid forms and curved lines, offering diverse and ever-changing lighting attraction perspectives of the building.
The maximum angle of torsion is up to 8.8 per floor, possessing a major challenge for the façade system in overall, including safety, waterproof and thermal performance requirements. To respond its complicated twisting degree, Aedas adopted cold bend glass technique system on 3D frame façade component, enabling a maximum glass deviation and BIM to adapt to the changing geometric parameters and dimensions.
“The façade is not only an outlook expression, but also a way of protection that sculpts interior spaces,” add Wai.
The Chongqing Gaoke Group Ltd Office project is currently under construction. This project is expected to be the world’s most twisting towers by 2022. ― Construction+ Online
