In delivering the vision of Northern Metropolis, the Government strives for a collective mode of development that leverages market forces to alleviate financial burden for the state, facilitate coordinated design for the growth of local districts and expedite the provision of public facilities.
To this end, the Secretary for Development, Bernadette Linn led a delegation to Shenzhen in March 2024 to learn about the developments of below locales as works of reference:
- Sungang and Qingshuihe sub-districts in Luohu District;
- Pingshan District;
- Baguang sub-district of Dapeng New District.
The development direction of Sungang sub-district leans towards modern commerce, as the neighbouring Qingshuihe sub-district is a platform for the artificial intelligence industry. The industrial spaces in Baguang sub-district feature emerging sectors while those of Pingshan District cover a Life and Health Technology Park and a Biomedical Accelerator area. The delegates were briefed on related topics—such as the planning process, selection of developers and strategies to attract industries—during the one-day visit. —Construction+ Online
