Following the first-ever Hong Kong Engineers Week in 2023, an expanded series of activities are set for the next celebration from 1 to 9 March 2024—anchored by the Hong Kong Engineers Week Carnival at West Kowloon Cultural District. Initiated by The Hong Kong Institution of Engineers (HKIE), this year’s platform runs on the theme of Be the Change to engage with the public, industry professionals and learners.
The event is aimed at boosting interest as well as understanding around the engineering profession, particularly among the younger cohorts, to ultimately attract new talents to the vital industry. To begin with, the three-day carnival, starting on 1 March 2024, features sharing sessions and demonstrations of related innovations by up to 45 participating booths. Entry is free.
As part of the week’s line-up, the Greater Bay Area Tertiary Institution Innovation Project—an invitational competition to foster cross-regional collaborations among engineering students from institutions of higher learning in Hong Kong, Macao and the Mainland—will conclude on 9 March 2024.
Other highlights in the line-up are a design contest for primary pupils; group quizzes open to secondary school students; career fairs at selected campuses; and the second edition of HKIE Grand Award. For details, please refer to the event’s website. —Construction+ Online
