Through its Community Energy Saving Fund, CLP Power Hong Kong Limited (CLP Power) has allocated HK$5 million this year for the installation of individual electricity meters for subdivided unit tenants referred by community partners, in an effort to improve their safety and living conditions.
Rewiring work will be conducted via appointment of registered electrical contractors with the landlord and building management’s consent. Meters will be installed in public areas of the buildings where the subdivided units are located. As the majority of subdivided units are located in older buildings, which often lack public areas, CLP Power will exercise flexibility on the basis that the electrical installations meet safety standards.
Since the launch of the fund in 2019, a total of 145 individual meters have been installed in 43 subdivided units, among other community support programmes. —Construction+ Online
