Sino Land Company Limited and CLP Group (CLP) have commissioned renowned Robert A.M. Stern Architects (RAMSA) from New York to design St. George’s Mansions, a luxury residential development, because of the firm’s unique ability to uphold the rich historical character of Kadoorie Hill and continue the legacy of the legendary address. Surrounded by sweeping camphor trees, bougainvillea and historic houses, Kadoorie Hill has been regarded as the “Garden City of Kowloon.”
In 1931, the Kadoorie family purchased 30 acres of land in Ho Man Tin and developed it as the largest project to be carried out at that time. A decade later, the number of houses had risen, with the addition of the old St. George’s Mansions beside the former CLP headquarters. These Streamlined Moderne and Bauhaus designs are a reflection of early ascendency in Kowloon.
Mr Daryl Ng Win-kong, JP, Deputy Chairman of Sino Land, is committed to carrying forward the rich history and heritage of Kadoorie Hill, one of Hong Kong’s most sought-after residential addresses. Daryl studied in Diocesan Boys’ School (DBS) in his teenage years. As a member of the DBS track team, he was frequently trained on Kadoorie Avenue. Growing up in the surroundings, Kadoorie Hil has a special emotional attachment for him.
